Banana Almond Butter Smoothie - Ingredients
- Bananas. You can use both frozen or fresh bananas. The only important thing is that they are RIPE bananas. These are ideally soft and sweet. Of course, the better the bananas taste, the better the smoothie will be. 🙂 If you use frozen bananas, you can leave out the ice cubes, if you want.
- Almond Butter. An almond butter made from 100% nuts is the best choice. This butter offers the best ingredients. You can also replace the almond butter with a nut butter of your choice.
- Hemp Seeds. Hemp seeds also add lots of great nutrition to this delicious smoothie. They are an excellent source of protein, vitamins, fiber and healthy fats.
- Oat Milk. Oat milk is my personal favorite plant-based drink. It is naturally sweet and has a very good flavor that goes well with the bananas. But you can easily replace it with another plant based milk or even conventional milk. Totally up to you!
- Ice. This Banana Almond Butter Smoothie tastes best when it's cold. If you use fresh bananas, I recommend mixing in ice cubes. If you add frozen bananas to the smoothie, you can skip the ice.
- Cinnamon (optional). The cinnamon goes so well with the other ingredients, but is optional.
How to make this easy Banana Almond Butter Smoothie
Preparing this healthy snack couldn't be easier: put all the ingredients in a blender at the same time and blend them for at least 1 minute, at best 2 minutes, until you get a very creamy smoothie.
This banana almond butter smoothie is creamiest when you drink it immediately after blending.
Banana Almond Butter Smoothie - Tips & FAQ
Can I use another nut butter instead of almond butter?
Yes definitely. I recommend a nut butter made from 100% nuts. Cashew butter, hazelnut butter or peanut butter are very suitable for this smoothie recipe.
Can I replace the oat milk with another plant-based drink?
Yes, you can do that easily. However, keep in mind that every plant-based drink tastes different. Oat milk is naturally sweet, while almond milk is almost not at all. Depending on your choice of drink, you can add 1-2 tablespoons of maple syrup to smoothie, if you like.
How should I store this Banana Smoothie?
Store this Almond Butter Smoothie in a covered jar in the fridge and use up within one day.
Can I freeze this Banana Almond Butter Smoothie?
Yes, you can freeze it too! It will keep in the freezer for up to 3 months. Use a suitable container for this. Allow to thaw at room temperature for about 2-4 hours (depending on the size of the container) and stir well again before drinking. It can also be frozen in ice cube trays. These pieces can even be mixed in portions in the blender while still frozen.
