That's why I have a very special recipe for you today: A crunchy sweet Granola Heart with ogurt and fresh berries. It's simple and incredibly uncomplicated to make, tasty and a lovely eye-catcher on the table.

Crunchy Granola Heart – Ingredients & Alternatives

This sweet granola heart is made out of a few simple ingredients:

  • Oats. Half of the oat flakes must be finely ground in a blender. This makes the granola mixture more compact and it sticks together better. Alternatively, you can also use oat flour.
  • Shredded Coconut. For this Granola Recipe you need unsweetened shredded coconut.
  • Coconut Oil. The melted coconut oil makes the baked granola heart perfectly crispy.
  • Chia seeds. In die Masse kommt insgesamt 1 Esslöffel Chiasamen. Du kannst alternativ auch Leinsamen verwenden oder es ersatzlos weglassen.
  • Maple syrup. The maple syrup makes the granola heart sweet. Rice syrup, agave syrup or honey are suitable alternatives.
  • Vanilla extract. The liquid vanilla extract gives the baked granola a wonderful aroma.
  • Salt.

Before serving, the granola is filled with a yogurt of your choice and decorated with fruit and berries.

Don't forget the most important ingredient - LOVE. :)

How to make this crispy Granola Heart with Berries

  1. Put half of the oat flakes in a blender and grind them finely. Alternatively, you can also use oat flour.

Yes, you can do that very well! Bake it and then let it cool completely. Store at room temperature in a container with a lid or in a sealed bag and use within 1 week.

WICHITG: Only fill the yoghurt into the granola heart immediately before serving so that it stays crispy.

Do you fancy chocolate? Then try the alternative, a Chocolate Granola Heart:

For a chocolaty granola heart, you need to add 3 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder and 2 tablespoons of maple syrup into the mixture.

This recipe (Granola Hearts) has become a staple in our home and a Valentine’s breakfast tradition. My son usually brings them up weeks before Valentine’s Day to make sure we’ll be having them. This year I’ll be making them to share with my preschool class for something special. They are so delicious, and filing, and beautiful. It’s a recipe that takes care of body and soul. Thank you!
